M16/17 #6 draw string and rubber xM16 17 #6 Shell: It is an original WWI Austrian Model 1917 size 66 steel shell. It was picked up in Afghanistan in 2001. It had been partly cleaned up and painted green. It has had two holes welded up near the right ear. These holes were made for an Afghanistan badge. The shell had some rust pitting on the outer and inner. The chinstrap lugs were rusted but are intact. It was stripped to bare metal, treated, primed and painted in grey green with a
