The weavers here are predominantly Uzbek, and their kilim tradition stretches back centuries, shaped by the nomadic cultures of the region and the Turkmen, Uzbek and Pashtun influences that have long intersected in this part of Afghanistan. What makes Maimana kilims particularly rare is who makes them. This is one of the
